…Sends Message to FG on Non-Remittance of Cooperative Deductions from IPPIS to Societies.
…To Partner with Govt. Supervising MDAs, professional, and Apex Bodies like ICOPRON, CFN, ICA etc.
The Executives and promoters of the newly formed Kaduna Federation of Workers Cooperative (KFWCoop) Limited, had been on working visits to several of its pioneering member societies within Kaduna State in the past weeks, making several courtesy and familiarization calls to the management committees of the individual societies visited while discussing their challenges and charting a way forward for them, considering good governance and international best practices in their cooperative operations, and encouraging better ways of cooperative management and administrations.
The main purpose of the working visits is to acquaint members with the vision, mission, and objectives of having this kind of Secondary Apex Cooperative Organization in place in the State, as well as fulfilling the Principles of Cooperative number 6 that stipulates “Cooperation among Cooperatives”. It is also to have a common platform where issues affecting each cooperative organization can be shared amongst all and solutions provided cooperatively for the betterment of all and sundry.
In fact, during the visitation by the body to their members in the state, both societies with federal government workers and the state workers use the period to voice out some of their challenges and difficulties of which the body is able to proffer a way forward and steps to be taken to assist in alleviating some of the difficulties stipulated.
A few of the major challenges faced by these workers enumerated were the issue of Integrated Payroll and Personal Information System (IPPIS) where individual members’ Cooperative Payment Deductions from their Salaries were made but were not remitted to the Cooperative Societies Bank account for the use of members. Also, there are issues relating to Cooperative Supervision from the regulators, as well as not having enough Cooperative Education, Training, and Information from the Government.
In addressing one of the critical challenges, with respect to the IPPIS matter, the President of the Kaduna Workers Cooperative Federation Ltd. Chief Abel Habila Adamu in the company of the organization secretary Mr. Ngbede Pius Oiganji, with their Consultant and Promoters, Dr. Usman A. Usman ficp, and Mr. Paul Baba ficp, already made frantic efforts to reach the Government through the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment Department of Cooperative & Social Security Office in Kaduna State where they met with the Head, Hajiya Saadatu Ahmad Gusau, who receives the KFWCoop Team in her office and assure them of passing their message across to the right channel for onward solutions. She also stated the willingness of her ministry to work with the organization to achieve its goals for its members.
Regarding the issue of Supervisory roles and that of EdR-Lucation, Training, and Information the body administrators said that they would be working towards achieving that for its members reaching out to all necessary government agencies within the State and the Federal Government saddled with such responsibilities. Also, they will be working with professional bodies such as the Institute of Cooperative Professionals of Nigeria (ICOPRON) including the International and National Apex bodies like the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (CFN) and the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA) Africa and the global level.
