Warri-South LG Disburse 100m to Cooperatives, Unveils Rebuilt Igbudu Market
The Warri-South Local Government of Delta State has disbursed N100 million to cooperatives and unveiled the rebuilt Igbudu Market. This initiative aims to boost economic activities and empower local businesses, showcasing the government’s commitment to supporting small-scale entrepreneurs and improving infrastructure in the region. The disbursement and market unveiling are expected to have a positive impact on the local economy, providing opportunities for growth and development.

Warri-South Local Government Area of Delta State has kick-started what it calls the ‘Festival of Project Commissioning’ with the unveiling of the newly rebuilt section of the Igbudu Market.
The commissioning was conducted by the wife of the governor of Delta State, Mrs. Tobore Oborevwori, who also supervised the disbursement of N40m in financial support to traders, bringing the total sum distributed to N100m across the ten markets within the local government area.

The reconstruction of Igbudu Market was in fulfilment of the campaign promise made by the chairman of Warri South Local Government, Agbateyiniro Isaac, to victims of a fire incident that gutted a section of the market last year.
During his campaign visit to the affected traders, the chairman had pledged to rebuild the damaged section at no cost to them – a promise that has now been honoured.
At the unveiling, Mrs Oborevwori also presented cheques of N10m each to four newly selected cooperative societies and market groups. The beneficiaries included the Ubeji Market Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the Christian Association of Nigeria Multipurpose Cooperative Society, the Warri South Women Multipurpose Cooperative Society, and the Spare Parts Market Multipurpose Cooperative Society.
The highlight of the event was the commissioning of a newly completed home for the mother of the famous quintuplets, Mrs. Grace Ogagbe, who was also presented with shop keys — a donation made possible through the local government council.
The event marked a major milestone in the council’s ongoing efforts to promote grassroots development, empower local businesses, and deliver on its promises to the people.
