The Minister in Charge of Cooperatives Affairs Met CFAN to Settle the Leadership Tussle

In a significant development addressing the ongoing leadership tussle within the Cooperative Financing Agency of Nigeria (CFAN), the Minister in Charge of Cooperatives Affairs, Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi CON, (Baraden Borgu) the Honorable Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security of the Federal Rebuplic of Nigeria, convened a meeting with the key organizational stakeholders. The meeting, aimed at resolving the internal conflicts that have plagued the organization, comes at a crucial time when the need for strong leadership in cooperative management is more pressing than ever.

The leadership dispute within CFAN has been characterized by divisions among members, threatening the organization’s ability to fulfill its mission of promoting financial cooperative development across the country. During the meeting, the Minister emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration within the cooperative sector, urging all parties to prioritize the greater good over individual ambitions.

Participants discussed potential pathways to reconciliation and stability, including facilitating dialogue among conflicting factions. The Minister also highlighted the government’s commitment to supporting cooperative initiatives and ensuring that leadership disputes do not undermine the progress made in the sector.

As the discussions unfolded, there was an optimistic tone among attendees, many of whom expressed a desire to find common ground and work towards a cohesive leadership structure that can effectively represent the interests of all members. The outcome of this meeting could set a precedent for future interactions within CFAN and potentially restore confidence among cooperative stakeholders nationwide.

The current Leadership of CFAN said they have moved on and are willing to accommodate all parties that would allow progress to be made in achieving CFAN’s Goal.

Present at the Meeting were the current board members of CFAN among whom were the President – Mr. Zakari Mohammed, the Executive Secretary – Mr. Atama Emmanuel, the Treasurer – Mr. Jagaba, Ex-Offio Alhaji, Sadeeq, and a member Prof. Iyayi. and on the other hand the RHC Adebola Orolugbagbe Caucus Leadership of CFAN were not at the meeting as it was learned that they missed their flight to Abuja and the Honourable Minister had to say he will have to hear from the other side and ensure peace reigns totally within the organization.

It was advised that RHC Adebola Orolugbagbe should be called upon again and hear his side of the matter before finally resolving it amicably so that justice, peace, and progress can ensue within the organization.

The Executive Secretary of CFAN uses the opportunity to report on the progress being achieved by the organization, including the partnership with CBN, the World Bank, and other INGOs such as the Bill and Melinda Gate Foundation, etc.
