THE ART OF CHOKIN
THE IMAGES ARE CREATED BY ETCHING PURE COPPER AND THEN GILDING IT WITH SILVER AND GOLD. THE ENGRAVINGS WERE ORIGINALLY CREATED TO DECORATE THE ARMAMENT OF THE SAMURAI WARRIORS. THIS ART FORM WAS HANDED DOWN FOR OVER EIGHT HUNDRED YEARS.
The engraving on this box is beautiful, pristine black lacquer hinged box with gold pin-stripe detail. The box measures 9 inches long, 5.25 inches wide and 3.25 inches tall seated on 1/2 inch legs. It is lined with red velveteen fabric with a ring section and an open 5"L x 5"W x 1 1/2" deep section. A mirror lines the entire inside lid to the box. The only issues are the two spots in the interior square section (please see photos) and the music box key is missing. The music box portion plays a beautiful tune when the box is opened and can easily be wound with any music box key or a pair of pliers.
