Simple and elegant brooch made by I Michelson, New York. This style was popular in the late 1930s into the '40s when jewelers transitioned to softer metals like gold and silver in order to save the harder pot metals for the war effort.
This brooch can easily take the place of a boutonniere on anyone's jacket: male or female. The last photo shows another example of Michelson's work. I am always in search of his pieces because they are classic, classy and a little a-symmetrical.
As with all vintage jewelry, this brooch has lasted through different fashions. It has patina from wear and tarnish. Whose drawer did it emerge from? Now you can give it the care it needs to continue communicating the stylish owners panache.
