Charming pair of vintage Kyoto-style fabric-wrapped Japanese egg dolls, each crafted with a hard molded face, silk brocade kimono wrap, braided cord details, and tassel accents. These dolls were popular mid-century souvenirs from Kyoto and other Japanese cultural sites and are known for their rounded “egg” bodies and expressive painted faces.
Both dolls are lightly weighted and have the traditional soft internal fill that creates a faint rattle sound when handled. They are not designed to open—the fabric is glued in place as part of the original construction.
