Embrace the timeless art of Japanese flower arranging with this beautiful vintage cast iron Usubata vase. Known as a traditional vessel for ikebana, this piece is a perfect blend of history, craftsmanship, and decorative art.

TUsubata (薄端), a traditional Japanese flower vase with a broad, flat rim. Designed in the style of the Ikenobō (池坊) school, the oldest and largest school of ikebana.
Made from solid cast iron, this vase is heavy and durable, with a black finish.
Features a two-part construction with a wide, flat top and a tapered, stand-like body.
The side is inscribed with the characters 南蛮池坊 (Nanban Ikenobō) in gold. The term "Nanban" (Southern Barbarian) refers to a style inspired by early Western influence during Japan's 16th-17th century trade period, adding a unique historical detail.

Usubata vases have been used for ikebana arrangements since at least the 16th century, holding a significant place in the formal displays of the Ikenobō school. The wide, flat rim of the vase
