Vintage Helena Saenz San Antonio Texas Studio Art Pottery 5" Vase Drip Edge MCM. This lovely and unusual piece with an asymmetrical mouth opening has a lava like speckled drip edge glaze. It was created by Helena Saenz, an artist who exhibited and sold her award-winning pottery pieces at San Antonio, Texas, galleries and art shows through the 1960s. Some were collected by museums, including Austins Laguna Gloria.
There is a fleabite chip in rim, and the base edge has chips that may have been there since the piece was made; they seem to have been a result of the glazing and firing process. Please see photos.
This stoneware piece is about 5" tall and 4 1/2" wide at the top, narrowing to 3" wide at the base. It is signed by the artist on the base.
