Vintage Handmade Pottery Casserole Crock w/ Lid Bean Pot Soup Crock Made In USA.
This is a handmade piece that looks to be from the 1970's through the 1980's. It is glazed to a glossy finish on the inside, and has a more matte finish on the outside. The lid features a handle on top and is domed with a small hole on the top to allow steam to escape. The pot is circular in shape and is about 5.25" deep. It is 9.375" in diameter on the outside and 8.25" in diameter on the inside. It holds 10 cups/2.5 quarts. It does not appear to ever have been used as it is in excellent condition with no cracking, scrapes or chips. It's absolutely beautiful with its mix of browns, ambers and tans in the painting. My research told me that this is a traditional American style bean pot or soup crock and possibly also a casserole crock. The style is closest to an Appalachian style pottery and New England style bean pots.
