From the 70s to the 80s, the legendary Sanrio SF Bunko series swept through the Japanese SF scene.
After Sanrio withdrew from the business, many of the works were reprinted by other companies, but even so, the appeal that makes you feel "I want to have it!" is partly due to the numerous SF art covers, both Western and Japanese, that adorned each volume.
This is the art book, supervised by Nobumitsu Omiya, "A Dream of a God-like Machine: Sanrio SF Bunko Cover Art Collection," which allows you to enjoy 127+α pieces of Sanrio cover art published by 1982.
A truly Sanrio SF! A thrilling title. The cover art of this book itself, which bears that title, is by Naoyuki Kato. Wonderful art, please take a look, including the back cover.
Based on the reading guide / thematic SF discussion by Nobumitsu Omiya, a SF scholar and science journalist, this book explores the world of works by 52 illustrators, including Naoyuki Kato, Kazutaka Miyatake, Noriyoshi Ohrai, Sumio Tsunoda, Koji Koizumi, Tohru Uehara, Hajime Sorayama, Keiko Takemiya, Shiro Tatsumi, Ichiro Tsuruta, Makoto Wada, Angus McKie, Robert Schultz, Jim Burns, Ian Miller, and Vincent Di Fate. Furthermore, it includes 10 illustrations by Chris Foss (this is the +α).
One of these is used on the cover of "Best SF 1," edited by Harrison & Aldiss, published the following year.
Dick, Disch, Dickinson, Delany, Le Guin, Zelazny, Coney, Kavan, and many more, the illustrations that beautifully and mysteriously adorn this impressive lineup.
For those who say "Sanrio's cat" is more this than that, the cover of Lao She's "Cat Country" by Sumio Tsunoda is, of course, included.

A beautiful item, read only once. The obi (paper band) is missing.
Thank you.
