Serpentinite Mineral Specimen - Klamath Mountains, California

Large 2 LB 9 OZ

is a metamorphic rock formed from the alteration of ultramafic
rocks by water, creating a group of magnesium-rich silicate minerals
called serpentine. Its most common mineral components are lizardite,
antigorite, and chrysotile, which can range in hardness from 3 to 6
on the Mohs scale and may give the rock a green, white, black, or
multicolored appearance.
