Dechra Redonyl Ultra Feline Powder is a nutraceutical containing Palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) for the support skin health and function in cats of all ages. PEA is a natural fatty acid made by both animals and plants. PEA is produced by the body in response to tissue injury. When a cat's skin becomes unhealthy for any reason, the body produces 30 times more PEA than usual to help maintain the skin well-being. PEA functions to stabilize mast cells, a type of white blood cell important in inflammation and allergic reactions. When mast cells are activated by allergens, they release histamine and other biochemical mediators of itching and skin inflammation.
