A rare vintage original work of art signed by renowned Fijian artist Alifereti Malai. A celebrated member of the Waisiliva Art Collective, Malai is a documented artist featured by the Fiji Arts Council and is known for gallery exhibitions that elevate traditional Masi techniques to fine art.
This piece features a highly collectible "War Club" motif, depicting two crossed traditional Fijian weapons: a Sali (gunstock club) and an I Ula Tavatava (throwing club). The artwork is executed in the rigorous Namuka-i-Lau style, where deep rust-red and black dyes are hand-stenciled rather than painted, creating the sharp, intricate geometric borders that define high-quality Fijian folk art.
