This is a cast stone replica of the Bessie Potter Vonnoh sculpture "Motherhood". It was made by Alva Museum Replicas in 1982 from the original in the Chicago Art Institute. The sculpture is 17.5 inches high and measures 8 by 6.25 inches at the base. The piece shows Vonnoh's signature as part of the duplicate cast. It is additionally inscribed with the Alva logo and date. It has a natural sandstone-like matte finish. It is in excellent used condition and has the original pads on the base.
Alva Museum Replicas of Long Island City, New York, manufactured copies of jewelry and sculpture from artwork in prestigious museum collections. Their proprietary cast stone mixture was called "Alvastone" and was cast in molds taken on the original work of art.
