HORTON HATCHES THE EGG by Dr. Seuss 1940 First Edition early Printing HB L1 by Random House. Condition is clean and very good. Pictures try to show the details of areas of imperfection. Of course no dust jacket is here, which would add a lot of value. No writing on any page besides initials on front inner page and sales record on back inner page. Initials in ink, sales record in pencil. Both very small, less than 1/2”. The market for this is about $150 in this condition. But I’ll discount and go down periodically till someone buys. Cancel culture censors, this is poetry:

“Look! Horton the Elephant’s (contraction of Elephant is)
Up in a tree!”
They taunted. They teased him.
They yelled, “How absurd!”
“Old Horton the Elephant
Thinks he’s a bird!”

They laughed and they laughed. Then they all ran away.
And Horton was lonely. He wanted to play.

But he sat on the egg and continued to say:
“I meant what I said...
And I said what I meant...
An elephant’s faithful
One hundred per cent!
