Are you from South Portland, Maine? Me too! And let me tell you, this book is fascinating despite the fact that all the pages have come detached from the binding. I bought two of these back in the nineties, and they're both like that; so I expect all the books printed may have that problem. The glue used for the binding has failed. The pages are all there and undamaged, but they're either unattached to the binding or in the process of detaching. Other than that, the text, the maps and the old pictures are still just as interesting.
Look at the pictures of "Some of the Oldest Houses in South Portland". Is your house there? Look at the pictures of the old schools! Did you go to Reynolds School? Me too! Remember how the snow would slide off the slate roof in a big avalanche? Remember Mrs.Spencer? OMG! You absolutely MUST have this book! Grab an Italian sandwich from Nano's and sit down with this for an afternoon!
