In pristine condition. This is one of 8 different floral carvings that will be listed.

Japanese okimono, a decorative carving made the Meiji period (1868-1912). Okimono were purely ornamental objects designed for display in a home alcove known as a tokonom.

This is a Japanese floral okimono, Meiji period (c. 1880–1910).

Materials visible
• Leaves: carved hardstone (likely jadeite or bowenite/serpentine), dyed or naturally green
• Flowers (lily-of-the-valley): carved bells
• Stems: carved and tinted
• Base: turned wood base with collar of different elemental factors
• Soil detail: dark lacquered or stained material (often wood or resinous compound)

This mixed-material construction is hallmark Meiji craftsmanship and required multiple specialists.

This flower was extremely popular in late Meiji Japan, symbolizing:
