Antique Walnut Georgian Style Knife Box Chest with Hinged Lid
Authentic antique walnut knife or silverware box.
This piece features a slanted lid with an inlaid shell motif, brass pull. and scalloped base molding. Inside is a a detachable wood piece designed to hold spoons that may not be original. 
The use of walnut, and the inlaid shell motif on the lid, suggests to me that the box was made in the late 1800's, but I am not an expert.
The chest is in fair condition and could use some restoration. The inlaid shell design has puckered. One of the two decorative brass ball pulls needs replacing on one side.  The hinges need repair or replacement and there are a few cracks in the wood. The interior wood spoon insert does not sit squarely on the supports.
