Made in 1963-1964 by Schildkröt in cooperation with Mattel, this German version of Chatty Cathy says up to 18 phrases in German. The body was made by Schildkröt and the voice box by Mattel.
Her body is hard plastic with a vinyl head. Her head has the diamond border turtle mark of Schildkröt. She was mostly stored lying down, so has a gentle case of bed head. She is all original, including her clothing(I believe she had underpants, but they are missing). One vinyl shoe strap is broken. The other shoe comes off, but I left it on for fear of breaking/damaging it. Other than that, she has no damaged or broken parts. Her head swivels and tilts, eyes close when she is horizontal, her arms and legs move freely and, positioned correctly, she can stand unaided. Her pull cord/voice box works fine and I believe she says between 12-18 unique phrase in German. One is recorded above. Her lips are a bit faded, but otherwise seems lovely.
