This handsome antique, gold-and-black patinated bronze sculpture of a long-haired mountain goat, is from Meiji-era Japan (or even a bit earlier), dating from 1850-1899. In Japanese culture the goat represents "greatness" and "excellence", and from the dynamic rendering of his curved horns to the sensuous grooved design of his shaggy coat, this b bronze goat sculpture projects strength and integrity of being from every angle of view, and will make a fine addition to a collection of antique Japanese or Asian figurative sculpture. As with many sculptures of antiquity, the artist who designed him is unknown. Shaggy-haired mountain goat is 10" in length, 3.5" wide, and is 7" in height. He has some heft to him, weighing in at 5 lbs.9 oz. Sculpture is in excellent condition. given its age,,and will be carefully packed to ensure delivery to you in described and pictured condition.
