Olaleye Reiterates the Importance of Youth in Cooperatives

Alhaji Olaleye has said his administration at OGSCOFED, understands the importance of young people in Cooperative activities in Ogun State, hence its decision to establish OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative at a focal point in the BARWA agenda.

The President of Ogun State Co-operative Federation Limited (OGSCOFED) Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye who is ably represented by the Vice President of OGSCOFED Limited, Chief (Mrs) Adenike Ajayi make this known at the 7th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of Oluwafoyinsayemi Mobegelu Cooperative Multipurpose Society Limited – OFSAM held on Saturday, 1st of April, 2023 at Ijebu Ode, Ogun State.

Mrs. Adenike said “we need to train our children to cultivate the habit of savings, in OGSCOFED, we have youth Cooperative Society that is meant for young people that are between the age of 18 and 35 years. There operations and activities will be physical and online for easy administration”.

Mrs. Adenike further stated that “in OGSCOFED we intend to have our own Coop Pay App for all our transactions as this we prevent our members from unnecessary charges from our Commercial Banks. Also we are going to have our OGSCOFED Coop Mart and this will be physical and online Cooperative market place. We have started our Coop Bread 🍞 but very soon when we are through with the NAFDAC registration it will be out for all members”.

The investment is still on for Individual members at minimum shares of 1,100; Society at minimum shares of 5,500 and Union at minimum shares of 11,000

At the occasion, the Director of Cooperative Services in Ogun State, Pastor Samuel Mustapha ably represented by the Zonal Cooperative Officer for Ijebu Ode Local Government Area, Mr. Ifarajimi made mentioned the importance of AGM, is rendering of stewardship.

“Cooperative have social engagement and rewards follows. Cooperative Society that we cannot see what they have done in the previous years, members will not be motivated to do more, all this are what makes the Cooperative Society growth” he said.

Mr. Ifarajimi then commend the Cooperative society in terms of Shares and Savings contributions, Asset and Liability and for financially stable.

He then emphasized that Cooperative is about people, Cooperative is about management, Cooperative is about member, equality and equity.

Meanwhile, the President of Oluwafoyinsayem Mobegelu Ijebu CMS Limited-OFSAM, Hon. Omelaja Ayodele, appreciated the Director of Cooperative Services in Ogun State, Pastor Mustapha and his team for their quality supervision roles. Also, he appreciate the President of OGSCOFED Limited, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye, the Union and Branch President, Pastor Femi Oluronbi, the first OWICS President, Chief (Mrs). M. I. Ogunnoiki, the Executive Secretary of OGSCOFED Limited, Mr. David I. Ayelabola ficp and his team whose contributions to the development of his Cooperative Society are enormous. Lastly, he appreciate every members for their support and understanding and enjoin them to continue their economic participation and the society will reciprocate through it’s quick response system.
