OGUN 2023 INTERNATIONAL YOUTH DAY: CLOSED DOOR MEETING WITH THE PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF OGSCOFED LIMITED

The President OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative Multipurpose Society, Badejo Adeyemi reinstated the need to celebrate the International Youth Day, tagged Ogun 2023 International Youth Day as a means of publicity and awareness for the youth cooperative movement.

Badejo made this known at the closed door meeting with the President of Ogun State Co-operative Federation Limited (OGSCOFED), Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye and Vice President of OGSCOFED Limited, Chief (Mrs). Adenike Ajayi on Wednesday, 29th March, 2023 at H.O. Kudoro Board room, ‘Tayo Sobanjo building, Cooperative House Asero Abeokuta.

He further stated that “the purpose of International Youth Day is to raise awareness of any issues that may be facing the world’s youth to celebrate their achievements. International Youth Day was created by the United Nations to help draw awareness to these issues as we strive to find solutions. It’s a day for reflection but also a day for taking action to get involved. It’s an initiative that honors the traits of young people and that acknowledges the challenges that today’s fledging youth face. To support the elimination of these issues it is important that the youth is able to reach the right resources for education, wellbeing, medicine and more”.

“International Youth Day began in 2000
and was organized by the UN to recognize the input that young people make in education, community development, environmental groups, volunteering for different social projects. The OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative reminds that cooperatives are a successful and democratic movement from which much can be learnt to better address some of the major challenges that we face as humanity and build a more just and equitable world” he added.

The OGSCOFED Youth Cooperative President, Badejo Adeyemi then appealed to Cooperative organizations and individuals for financial support to make the day a successful one as the event is organize for free for the youths.

The OGSCOFED Vice President, Chief (Mrs). Adenike Ajayi appreciated the efforts and the tenacity of the youths. She then advised to leverage on technology considering that we are in a technology age. She believes that the future of OGSCOFED youth is safe with the emergency of the youth body.

The OGSCOFED President, Alhaji Wasiu Olaleye in his response to all that had been said expressed his gratitude to God and to the youth cooperative President for a job well done, for coming up with a proposed source of income for the proposed budget for the international youth day celebration.

He then pledged his support towards the program and the youth cooperative as a body.
