Nigerian National Cooperative Awards Gets Ministers’ Buy-in, FMAFS to fully Support

The Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) has declared its readiness to support and participate in this year’s edition

The Nigerian National Cooperative Awards in its seventh year, organized by the Cooperative Rating & Award Society of Nigeria (CRASoN) has received a boost by the Federal Government of Nigeria as the Honorable Minister of State (HMS), Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security.(FMAFS) Senator (Dr.) Aliyu Sabi Abdulahi who is the Minister in Charge of Cooperative Affairs and Related Matters in Nigeria shown his acceptance of the CRASoN Initiatives and the willingness to actively support and participate in this Renewed Hope Edition of Nigerian National Cooperative Awards to be held in Transcorp Hilton, Abuja come 22nd to 24th November, 2024.

The Honorable Minister of State disclosed this during a meeting held by CRASoN Leadership and the Ministers Team at his office domiciled at FMAFS Headquarters, FCDA Secretariat, Area 11, Garki FCT – Abuja.

At the meeting facilitated by the HMS FMAFS, the Federal Director of Cooperatives introduced the CRASoN CEO, who the Minister says should make his presentation and the CEO delves into the history of his sojourn into the cooperative sector with a clear vision of contributing to the growth and development of the industry. and the CEO ended his presentation with the justification of what led to the establishment of CRASoN as an organization and state the four (4) key problem they are proffering solutions to within the Cooperative Sector of Nigeria viz-a-viz; Lack of Comprehensive Cooperative Data/Statistics, No much Cooperative promotions & awareness including the political will to support coops and recognition of Cooperatives and Cooperative Leaders and lastly Cooperatives and Cooperators are not championing the 7th Principles of Cooperative and ethical values on Concern for Communities and caring for others respectively.

The HMS FMAFS further revealed that, in the Renewed Hope Agenda for Agriculture and Food Security of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu the Ministry have four major Pages and cooperative has a whole paragraph where it was mention specifically to play a key role. Hence, the need for all hands to be on deck within the sector as he plans to revamp the sector and ensures they play a key role to activate Mr. Presidents Interest on the Cooperative Movement via a flagship intervention program to generate wealth, livelihood, reduce unemployment and poverty while also bringing lot of youths into the ecosystem of the Renewed Hope Agenda to drive prosperity for all Nigerians.

The highlight of the meeting was when the CRASoN CEO Mr. Victor Oyegoke presented his authored book Cooperative Business Model: The Basic Elements You Need To Know, to the Honorable Minister of State FMAFS with a group photograph taken
