Kogi State Cooperative Federation Recognizes Ohi of Okene as Royal Patron
The Kogi State Cooperative Federation has officially recognized the Ohi of Okene, His Royal Highness, Alh. (Dr) ISAH MAMMAN OKATAHI as its Royal Patron, marking a significant milestone in promoting cooperative development within the State. This honor was conferred during a recent visit to the royal father at his palace by cooperative leaders, officials, and some cooperative stakeholders.
The recognition reflects the federation’s commitment to fostering collaboration and unity among cooperatives in Kogi State, leveraging the traditional authority of the Ohi of Okene to strengthen ties with local communities. As Royal Patron, the Ohi is expected to play a vital role in advocating for cooperative principles, facilitating economic development, and enhancing the welfare of members through active participation and support.
During the event, President of the Kogi State Cooperative Federation Chief Muhammed Otue highlighted the importance of cooperatives in driving economic growth, creating jobs, and empowering individuals. The federation expressed optimism that this partnership with the Ohi of Okene will enhance its initiatives, encourage more people to engage in cooperative societies, and ultimately lead to improved livelihoods for residents of Okene, Kogites, and beyond.
Furthermore, discussions at the occasion were centered on creating awareness on the grass root about the importance of cooperation as the most viable means of empowerment and wealth creation, other issues raised was on how to facilitate a way of having a permanent Federation Secretariat in the State just like other states and to consider giving about 100 hectares of land to the Federation for use as a farm center.
The recognition ceremony at the visit served as a platform to celebrate the achievements of various cooperatives in the State while calling for continued support from both traditional institutions and government agencies to promote cooperative practices across Kogi State.
Other Executives of the Cooperative Federation present at the event were; Vice President 1, Mrs. Hannatu Z. Umoru, the PRO, Mallam Aliyu.O.Yussuf, the Financial Secretary, Hajia Alami Ibrahim, and the Chief Security Adviser, WO/2 Emmanuel, the meeting also has the Chief Consultant to the Federation in the State, Alhaji Abdullahi Ubeida and his media team.
