KadPoly Cooperators Alumni Reunite to Celebrate International Day of Cooperatives

On the occasion of the International Day of Cooperatives, the alumni of Kaduna Polytechnic (KadPoly) came together last week Saturday 17th July 2024, to celebrate the spirit of cooperation and collaboration. The event brought together former students who had been part of the Department of Cooperative Economics and Management, during their time at KadPoly.

The gathering was a joyous occasion, as old friends and acquaintances reunited to reminisce about their experiences as members of cooperative department and to share how those experiences had impacted their lives and careers. From agricultural cooperatives to credit unions, the alumni exchanged stories of how their involvement in these cooperatives had provided them with valuable skills and knowledge that they had carried into their professional lives.

The Guest Speaker Hajiya, Sa’adatu Ahmad Gusau Registrar of Cooperatives, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment emphasis on people forming and joining Cooperative for their betterment and also to improve the Living Standard of the People.

The event also served as a platform for the alumni to discuss the important role that cooperatives play in promoting sustainable development, empowering communities, and creating opportunities for individuals to improve their livelihoods. They emphasized the significance of cooperatives in promoting economic participation, social inclusion, and gender equality.

As the day unfolded, the attendees engaged in discussions about the challenges and opportunities facing cooperatives in today’s rapidly changing economic and social environment. They explored ways in which they could continue to support and promote the cooperative movement, both at KadPoly and in their respective communities.

The reunion culminated in a commitment to stay connected and work together to further the ideals of cooperation and mutual support. The alumni expressed a shared vision of leveraging their collective experiences and expertise to mentor current students and support the growth of cooperative initiatives at KadPoly.

Overall, the KadPoly Cooperators Alumni reunion was a heartfelt celebration of the enduring impact of cooperatives on the lives of individuals and communities. It served as a reminder of the power of cooperation in fostering sustainable development and building a more inclusive and equitable society.

The highlight of the event was the award of recognition and excellence given to some deserving members of the alumni who has distinguished themselves.

in attendance at the occasion was the National President of Kaduna Polytechnic Alumni Association Hon. Abba Anas Adamu, the Dean of the College Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Awwal, Hajiya Amina Mohammed Bashir a Cooperative Consultant, and the representative of Barr Saratu Mama Shafii Chairman Consumer Protection Tribunal CCPT were the Mothers of the Day.

The event was organized by the Kadpoly Cooperators Alumni and coordinated by Dr. Usman A.  Usman, an Ex-Student, Lecturer, and Former Head of the Department of Cooperative Economics and Management Kaduna Polytechnic.
