Federal Cooperative College Gets New Administrative Block from Legislator

The Vice Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation and member representing Afikpo-North and South of Ebonyi State at the Green Chambers of the National Assembly, Right Honourable Idu Ighariwey, has donated a fully furnished one-story building administrative block to the Federal Cooperative College Oji River, Enugu State.

The Legislator who has been a friend of the institution, stated while handing over the ultra-modern multi-million naira administrative block to the college management, that the new admin block was part of the promises he made to the school to market it to the rest of the world.

The Federal Lawmaker said he was highly impressed with the massive infrastructural developments in the school and equally appreciative of the efforts of the college management in transforming the college into an institution with a comparative advantage over others in the country.

Hon. Ighariwey who influenced most of the structures in the school, assured the Federal Cooperative College Oji River of more projects and support.

Responding, the Provost of the college Dr. Owan Obodagu Tonica, said Ighariwey has been a good friend to the school and that he is the reason most projects were in the college. That the lawmaker has continued to sell the college to his close associates and colleagues at the National Assembly.

The Provost said the new administrative block was built and handed over to the college by Rt. Hon. Idu Ighariwey was the lawmaker’s personal project for the school and would be adequately utilized for its intended purposes.

Also, the Internal Auditor of the Federal Cooperative College Oji River, Mr. Okeze Daniel Chukwudi, stated that as a friend of the college, Ighariwey decided to domicile one of his projects in the school. He said the new administrative block would house new employees of the college while expressing profound gratitude to the lawmaker for the kind gesture.

Ezeano stated that the new admin block is fully furnished and has solar panels for constant electricity. He equally disclosed that the new admin block donated by Idu Ighariwey was not the only project the lawmaker has given to the college.

He said the lawmaker has attracted so many projects to Federal Cooperative College Oji River and has also gone a step further to convince his friends and colleagues at the National Assembly to institute their own projects in the college, adding that Idu Ighariwey has played a very significant role in infrastructural development of the college.

Although the Admission Officer stated that the Federal Cooperative College Oji River was not in Ighariwey’s constituency as he is an indigene of Ebonyi State, he said the lawmaker out of sheer love and affection for the college decided to bring developmental projects to the college.

He therefore admonished other public-spirited individuals as well as corporate organisations to borrow a leaf from Idu Ighariwey’s generosity and undertake projects at the Federal Cooperative College Oji River, Enugu State.

Meanwhile, the Admission Officer of the Federal Cooperative College Oji River, Hon. Obinna Ezeano, described the gesture from Idu Ighariwey as a welcome development, stressing that the new administrative block would provide an independent space for the running of the college.
