APPOINTMENT: Victor Oyegoke Makes History Again as First Special Assistant on Cooperatives in Nigeria at FMAFS

History has been made in Nigeria as the Honorable Minister of State (HMS), Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS) Senator (Dr.) Aliyu Sabi Abdulahhi appoints a Special Assistant (SA) on Cooperative Matters and Farmer’s Welfare for the first time in Nigeria. This is a milestone achievement for the Cooperative Sector in Nigeria as it shows the Federal Government’s seriousness in revamping the industry for the benefit of the stakeholders and to drive the Renewed Hope Agenda. for inclusive prosperity for all.

This appointment to many is a worthwhile venture for the government as it was described by many who have been sending congratulatory messages to Mr. Victor Oyegoke that its a round peg in a round hole and that the appointment was made based on meritorious and selfless services he has been rendering to the cooperative sector for almost two and half decade now..

Many cooperators and leaders including family and friends with well-wishers have been congratulating him. Key personalities in Nigeria like the President of the Cooperative Federation of Nigeria (CFN) and ICA-Africa, High Chief Tajudeen Oriyomi Ayeola said, “This is more than good news to me. I congratulate you and felicitate with you on this your well-deserved appointment. With all sincerity, I’m happy for your life. I hope and pray it shall be a smooth path to a greater thing to come into your life. I have no doubt whatsoever in my mind that you are more than fit and prepared to occupy the position.”

He concluded his congratulatory messages with a word of advice and caution to Mr. Victor Oyegoke to be more patient and handle the position more maturely.

Also, another leader and professional in the sector, Comrade Dr. Olubunmi Fajobi President of ICOPRON – The Institute of Cooperative Professionals of Nigeria, said “This is Good News. I felicitate you on this auspicious opportunity. God in His Mercy will guide you and protect you. Congratulations!”

Mr. Victor is an Alumnus of the premier cooperative college in Nigeria – The Federal Cooperative College, Eleyele, Ibadan, where he graduated with Distinctions in Cooperative Economics and Management. He is known for many firsts among equals in Nigeria. He pioneered the National Association of Cooperative Students (NACOS) Where he serves as the founding President for 3 consecutive years before handling over to the students. After School, He founded the Nigerian Youth Cooperative Network (NYCN-COOP) -An In and Out-of-school youth organization that championed Nigeria’s Youth Cooperative Movement until 2012.

In 2010, He founded Cooperative Support Services – A wholly Cooperative management consulting and Advisory Services organization that promotes cooperative development and ensures sustainability.

2013 was the year CRASoN – The Cooperative Rating & Award Society of Nigeria was founded but got registered and officially debuted with the Nigerian National Cooperative Awards in 2018 and since then He has been the Founding President and CEO of the organization, pushing it to greater heights to becoming a household name in the Nigerian Cooperative Ecosystem gathering momentum that Cooperators and Cooperatives now look up to the event as a rallying point for all great cooperators and cooperatives in the country.

These and many more co-organizing and founding efforts in promoting and developing cooperatives across the country coupled with his passion, zeal and commitment to cooperative growth ansd development seems to have played a major factor in his appointment by the ever dynamic and versatile Honorable Minister of State for the Federal Ministry of Agriculture & Food Security Senator Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdulahi who is the Minister Designate for Cooperative Affairs and other related matters in Nigeria
