
Groundbreaking Partnership Set to Revolutionize Cooperative Education in Edo State

A new era of collaboration is on the horizon for cooperative education in Edo State. The Lagos State Cooperative College (LASCOCO) and the Edo State Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives have announced plans to join forces to empower cooperative trustees and corporators in Edo State. This exciting development was revealed during a working visit by a team from Edo State, who were in Lagos to explore the academic programs and training initiatives of LASCOCO.

A Shared Vision for Cooperative Development
Welcoming the delegation, Dr. Walid Adebosin, Acting Provost of LASCOCO, expressed the College’s enthusiasm for the proposed partnership. “We are more than willing to collaborate with the Edo State Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives to develop the cooperative movement and education in the state,” he said. Dr. Adebosin highlighted the College’s commitment to building the capacities of cooperative trustees and members through its academic programs, entrepreneurial initiatives, and vocational training.

A Model for Success
LASCOCO’s academic curriculums are designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the workforce. The College’s National Diploma programs and Professional Diploma Programs are taught by seasoned practitioners in various fields, including microfinance banks. Students also benefit from vocational training programs at the Lagos State Women Development Centre, which provides them with additional skills to complement their diploma qualifications.

A Nine-Month Skill-Up Program with International Recognition
The College’s nine-month skill-up technical acquisition program is a standout initiative that has garnered international recognition. Based on the City and Guild’s Curriculum, the program allows graduates to be assessed for certification by the international examination body, giving them a competitive edge in the job market.

Mrs. Felicia Edopholor Esq, Permanent Secretary of the Edo State Ministry of Business, Trade and Cooperatives, expressed her satisfaction with LASCOCO’s academic curriculum and programs. “I am impressed with what I have seen, and I believe we can collaborate to benefit our cooperative societies,” she said.
